CostToStudy.com publishes calculators, country and city comparisons, tuition guidance and student-budget planning pages. This policy explains the standards used to decide what belongs on a page, which sources receive priority and how uncertainty is presented.
Editorial Purpose
Our purpose is to help students, families and sponsors understand the financial side of studying in another country or city. Pages are built around a concrete question such as tuition, monthly living costs, rent, first-year cash needs, proof of funds or the difference between two study destinations.
We aim to answer that question early, keep the calculation understandable and show the assumptions that can materially change the result. A page should not turn a narrow official requirement into a complete student budget, and it should not present a planning estimate as a guaranteed price.
Source Priority
Material facts are sourced as close as possible to the authority responsible for the rule, fee or published figure. When a direct national source does not exist, we use the narrowest authoritative source that matches the claim.

Blogs, forums, recruitment agencies and commercial consultancies are not used as the primary authority for a government rule or institutional charge. They may help identify a question that needs research, but the published claim should be supported by a stronger source whenever one is available.

A government fee or university charge is kept with the applicable year, student status, programme, location and payment period.
Keep the range visible
When the responsible source publishes a range, we do not turn it into a single official price unless the page clearly labels a calculated planning value.
Explain how it was built
Modelled rent, food or personal spending values must be separated from official tariffs and supported by the methodology used on the page.
Do not convert missing data to zero
Unavailable information remains unavailable or is marked Limited. A zero is used only when the relevant charge is genuinely zero.
Calculator Standards
Calculators are decision tools, not quotes. Inputs and results should match the promise of the page title. Tuition, rent, recurring living costs, one-time payments, refundable deposits and immigration funding requirements are kept separate when they represent different kinds of money.
